Carpet Manufacturing Process

Designing of carpet.-This is typically done by a master designer, who will create a detailed drawing of the pattern that the carpet will have on graph paper and Once the design have been selected/created , the next step is to select the raw materials, The wool used in carpets is typically sourced from the New Zealand and Himalayan region and its dyed as per color references and it is carefully washed and dried before being used. The warp and weft threads, which are the vertical and horizontal threads that run the length of the carpet, are made of cotton or wool, while the pile knot threads, that create the texture of the carpet, are made of wool, silk and fine materials then it will be used by weavers to weave design as per graph paper and use colors accordingly, On wooden and Iron looms weavers will weave designs each knot by hand on cotton warp and weft

The weaving process is the most time-consuming step in the carpet-making process. The weavers use a variety of tools, including needles, hooks, and shears, to tie the knots that create the pattern of the carpet. The number of knots per square inch determines the quality of the carpet, with higher-quality carpets having more knots.

Once the weaving is complete, the carpet is washed, dried and after stretching trimmed/shearing done to achieve final look of carpet

Post this, the rugs are washed to ensure that the natural sheen comes out through the yarns that are used. Finally comes the finishing process where the rugs are stretched, edge binding is done and rug is evened out through the help of a high low carving process
